verinice.edu: Free ISMS & DSMS solution for teaching modules

The new verinice generation is now also available in an Edu version! This solution, which is provided specifically for educational institutions, brings tool-supported information security management and data protection directly into the classroom. With verinice.edu, colleges, universities and other educational institutions can use the web-based platform in the verinice.cloud (hosted by SerNet) free of charge as part of their courses – including all available content and functions for which SerNet itself is not subject to license fees.

Note: verinice.edu is an offer exclusively for teaching. For information security and data protection management at colleges, universities and other educational institutions, the new verinice generation or the continued use of  verinice single user version / verinice.PRO are provided.

Complete functionality for teaching

verinice.edu offers the same range of functions as the professional verinice.veo platform and provides an introduction to

  • IT-Grundschutz according to BSI: Support for the standards 200-1, 200-2 and 200-3 as well as access to the IT-Grundschutz Compendium.
  • Data protection management: compliance with the GDPR, including a directory of processing activities, data protection impact assessments (DPIAs) and technical and organizational measures (TOMs).
  • NIS2 compliance: support for implementing the European NIS2 directive.

Thanks to practical demo profiles, users can quickly and easily start integrating the functions directly into teaching projects.

Open Source and Digital Sovereignty

With verinice.edu, SerNet supports digital sovereignty in teaching and offers full transparency and security with the open-source platform. In addition to technical exercises on the ISMS, DSMS and GRC tool, educational institutions can also view the source code, so they can fully analyze and modify the software. The flexible and scalable approach of verinice offers the opportunity to test and implement further standards in study projects. Open APIs make it possible to extend the functionality by prototypes of own applications and services. The verinice team is looking forward to the exchange – among other things in the verinice forum.

verinice.edu is provided free of charge to educational institutions for a period of six months. The subscription can be easily activated via the verinice portal. After the end of the usage period, all data entered will be deleted in accordance with the GDPR.
